Home Remodeling Quick Tips

August 16th, 2008 · No Comments · Home Remodeling

There are many people who would want their house or parts of their house remodeled. Ask any homeowner what part of the house they want remodeled and you may get answers like “fix the garage” or “renovate the living room.” But adding space would always be at the top too before any other home improvement can go to the top of the list.

There are many people all over who are looking to increase the space in their house. Greater space means higher resale value for your house. Some quick ways of getting your desired space are:

1.) Converting your attic

The good news about attics is that they are built near to the floor below them, so utilities like electricity and plumbing are no problem. The bad news is that many attics are oddly shaped, with angled dormers and low hanging ceilings. So to do this you will need to strengthen the beams, either by using the latest contractor techniques or other methods you may know, and lay down a sub-floor.

2.) Down with the interior wall

It is also a good idea to create that illusion of space rather than creating the actual space. There are a lot of interior walls that are not overly load-bearing and can be easily taken down by the homeowner in a weekend.

3.) Changing a room

This tip means the concept of changing a room to another room. An example of changing a room is changing your porch into a TV room. The tip here is to closely align the function of the old room to the function of the new room.
