The Expansive Selection Of Black Rims: Knowing All Your Possible Choices
You know that black wheel rims definitely make a statement when put on a car. But what type of "black" should you choose? Some of the different "shades" available include glossy black, flat black, and hyper black - just to name a few. Here is a brief informational summary of the three different shades, some ideas of what type of car each goes with, and some very general pricing information.
Glossy Black - This is a color that is lustrous and very shiny. This shade of black goes well on any car with a decent paint job, and is perfect for the person who wants to make his car a little bit more "showy". But if you are someone who wants to "blend in with the crowd", then this probably is not for you.
You could put glossy black wheels and rims on a newer hybrid car, and this would make it appear a bit sportier than what was normally intended. In fact, these rims with bright red or yellow paint job, would definitely give your car that sleek new "toy car" look. Another type of automobile that would look great with these color rims is any two-door sedan model, especially if it's painted silver.
These babies aren't cheap. If you're looking at the brand new ones - and depending upon the size you need - be prepared to pay as much as your monthly car payment for the smaller rims, and look to fork over a house payment-sized amount for those cars that most of us will never be able to afford.
Flat Black - This shade is without a hint of any other color, at all. It's more of a monotone shade, that's just "black". However, it does very well when put on government-type cars and jeeps, to give them that authoritative look.
This type of black color is often noticed on those cars that used to be family compact cars, but found their way to the race track. The owners of these cars usually pair these rims up with a car done over in the same color of black, or an equally "serious" color. This product isn't quite as expensive as its glossy counterpart - but almost. You can find them new online, starting at around $400 for the basic rim - and, depending on what brand and size you need, it goes up from there.
Hyper Black - These are rims that are actually a chrome color in which a distant cousin of the black shade is made to gleam through. The end result is a look that's subtle and understated - yet expensive-looking, as well. Cars that look really nice with these rims on are those such as the mini "gangster-type" type car. New, they start out around two hundred dollar per set, and go up from there.
Do not forget to check out the online auction houses when shopping for black wheels. Many times you can get lucky and find them in sets of four, with wheel tire packages, for unheard of prices - like $700 per set. And, if you are willing to shop around and settle for "gently used" rims, you can sometimes find that exact same deal for hundreds cheaper!
