Another tip to finding the right contractor is always hire a licensed and professional contractor. You can check with your city or town’s regulatory agencies if the contractor you are about to hire is licensed or not. Also, check if there is a history of complaints for that specific contractor or contact your local chapter of NARI.

After doing this, you may also want to check for references of previous homeowners who have worked with that contractor and may be even able to ask those referenced homeowners some questions like were they happy with the contractor, or how was the quality of the work done.

Budget is usually the first topic of discussion and then the specifics such as kitchen, bathroom, etc. Be prepared and ready to assist the contractor in planning your project efficiently.
